Dr. Lillian M. Lowery

FutureReady Columbus is a public-private partnership that resulted from the City of Columbus Mayor’s Education Commission.

This Commission included representatives from across the Columbus region, focused on college and workforce readiness for all citizens. With that charge, the FutureReady Columbus team have developed a strategic path forward that reflects the values and aspirations of the Columbus community in building a plan of action. This plan of action looks to local and national models with a bias for action, takes what we believe are the key components of having impact across education and related social supports, uses data to figure out what works, and seeks to harness the entrepreneurial spirit of this region. FutureReady Columbus’ the first areas of focus will address shared community goals and opportunities across the 0-24 continuum, build upon early successes in the community, and complement work that is already underway in the community. Please review the “About Us” section of this website to learn more detail about FutureReady Columbus’ scopes of work.

We are excited about the journey ahead and confident in the ability of the Columbus community to strengthen the education system in ways that put children at the center.

Thank you in advance for your partnership on the work ahead. We are eager to get started.

Dr. Lillian M. Lowery is currently the president-CEO of FutureReady Columbus (OH). Previously, Dr. Lowery served as the state superintendent of schools for the Maryland State Board of Education. Her state-level service began when she was appointed as Secretary of Education for the State of Delaware.
